Welcome to the WOW! Choral Festival,
dedicated to showcasing the talents of
all choral & choir groups, vocal ensembles and vocal artists!

The Choral Festival will be held across the following days and locations in 2025:

WOW! Choral Festival - Armadale
​
Sun, 18 May 2025 from 1pm
​
​The WOW! Choral Festival - Armadale is held at the Main Hall of the Armadale District Hall,
Cnr Jull Street & Church Avenue, Armadale WA 6112.
​
Thanks to the fantastic support of the City of Armadale,
a piano will be provided at the Main Hall for each group's use!
​
Choral Festival Schedule
Each choir, chorus and vocal group will be provided with up to a 15-minute set time to showcase their talents,
and we welcome choirs, choruses and vocal groups to perform works at all stages of development -
from its first time in front of an audience to seasoned, polished works and performances.
Participants will be provided with their performance time during the Choral Festival hours
in the form of an Initial Draft and then a Finalised Draft.

Please note: Registrations close Sunday 4 May 2025 at 11.59pm
so that scheduling can be provided with sufficient notice to all participants.

Each participant from your choir, chorus or vocal group is required to individually register
for the WOW! Choral Festival. In their individual registration, participants will be asked to note
the choir/chorus/group with which they are singing so that they are allocated
to the correct group for the festival.
​
Each group's musical director (including pianist and/or conductor) is required to register
for the WOW! Choral Festival as well (free registration is provided). In their registration,
the Musical Director will be asked to note the choir/chorus/group with which they are
conducting/playing so that they are allocated to the correct group for the festival.

The WOW! Music & Drama Eisteddfod - Western Suburbs is held at the Recital Hall
in Zenith Music at 309 Stirling Highway, Claremont, Western Australia 6010.*​
*Please note a flight of stairs is at this venue; thus, it is not suitable for large-scale harp competitors.
​
Eisteddfod Schedule
Participants will be provided with their performance time during these Eisteddfod hours
in the form of an Initial Draft and then a Finalised Draft.
​
Whilst every effort is made to follow the noted schedule, section overflow may occur.
Thus, additional rounds may be held at alternate times to accommodate this overflow.
​
Winner's Concert
Those who achieve a First or Second Place in their Category will be invited to perform
at the Winner's Concert in the Recital Hall at Zenith Music on Saturday at 2.30pm.

eisteddfod rules
Upon close of Eisteddfod registrations for each location, participants will be provided
with their performance time during these Eisteddfod hours.

NB We ask that all performers please allow for plenty of time for parking and setup.
​
Registrations close 1 month prior to the date of the competition.
​
NB Late Registrations are accepted on a case-by-case basis.
​

Collaborative Pianists & Backing Tracks
​
Each competitor is responsible for organising their own collaborative pianist/accompanist
as well as their own backing track with Bluetooth speaker/device.
​
Two pianos (baby grand and upright) are available for use
at the Western Suburbs - Zenith Music location.
​​
​Competitor Fees:
​
Each category is $35 per entry.
NB Late entries will incur a $10 late fee.
If you apply for one category only (i.e. Piano Section - Novice),
your entry fee for the Eisteddfod is $35 (payable via the Trybooking link).
​
If you apply for more than one category, your entry fee is $35 x # of categories.​
Thus, if you apply for two sections (i.e. Piano Section - Novice and Vocal Section - Recital),
your entry fee for the Eisteddfod is $70 payable via the Trybooking link).

Competitor Regulations:
​​
1) This competition is open to amateur and emerging artists only.
Professional musicians and professional actors are not eligible to compete.
​
2) Under/Over 18 Years of Age - to be determined as the first day of the Eisteddfod.
​
3) Only one piece or excerpt is to be played, sung or acted, except in the noted categories.
​
4) Music and drama difficulty level is in accordance with AMEB levels.
​
5) No repeats are to be played or sung in the Eisteddfod
(i.e. repertoire played, sung or acted in one category cannot be repeated in another category).
​
6) Timing provided in the application must be strictly adhered due to scheduling.
Failure to observe provided timings of performances by competitors may result in disqualification.
​
7) Performers are to provide a minimum of 3 photocopies of their selection/s
on their scheduled day of the Eisteddfod for the adjudicator/s.
This is for adjudicator use only.
Please provide this music at the Registration Table upon arrival.
Failure to provide this sheet music may result in disqualification.
​
8) A certificate will be awarded to the winner of each category, unless there are fewer than three competitors. In such cases, the adjudicator/s will use their discretion to present the certificate to the winner.
​​
The following marks indicate place level:
​
First Place: a minimum of 85 marks
Second Place: a minimum of 80 marks
​
NB The adjudicator/s hold the right to withhold a certificate in any section where sufficient merit has not been displayed, and the performance is not of the required standard.
9) If there are insufficient entries in a category, two or more categories may be combined.
NB No refunds will be provided to category entrants.
​
10) All decisions are final. No protests may be made regarding category winners.
​
11) In respect to our entrants, no entry or exit from the recital hall will be permitted during a performance.
​
12) The Eisteddfod does not accept responsibility for accidents or incidents during the competition. Entrants are responsible for all belongings throughout the Eisteddfod, including musical instruments and gear.
​
13) All mobile phones are to be switched to silent or off during the Eisteddfod performances.
​
14) All entries must be received 1 month prior to the competition date. Any late entries will incur a $10 late fee.
​
15) Recital hall etiquette must be followed at all times.
A copy of the etiquette will be provided to all entrants prior to the Eisteddfod.
​
16) Category winners may be invited to perform at a Winners' Concert,
please see the relevant listed date and time.
The length of the Winner's Concert is dependent
upon the number of Winner's who would like to perform.
​
17) Please note that no refunds will be provided in the case of sickness, misadventure or withdrawal once the registration has been paid via the Trybooking link. If the participant does not compete, the participant forfeits the registration fees paid to the Eisteddfod.
​
Competitor Prizes:
​
Competitor Prizes are available for certain instruments and sections, based on sponsorship from esteemed organisations dedicated to musical development, expression and excellence in Western Australia.​
​
The adjudicator/s hold the right to award prizes in any section for which a prize has been sponsored.
The adjudicator/s may withhold a prize in a sponsored section where sufficient merit has not been displayed, and the performance is not of the required standard.
​
All decisions are final. No protests may be made regarding competitor prizes.
​
